Tommy Nahulu
I want to share images that speak to people. Art is deeply personal, and at the end of the day it writes another page in each of our stories.
As a muralist, my work is often done on a larger scale, and this magnitude serves to invite the viewer deeper into the piece, reflecting upon the attributes of the subjects depicted. Many of my subjects are people who inspire me personally. Some of these pieces include quotes that provoke contemplation and inspiration.

MURALS
WHERE ANGELS DARE 1993
By far, one of the greatest experiences I've had as a muralist. It began with a call from a friend I used to bus tables with. He had joined the Northern California Chapter of Guardian Angels based in San Francisco, and soon became one of it's leaders. Every 2 years, the Angels hold an International Convention in different cities. In 1993, about 500 chapter leaders from around the world converged on The City By The Bay. Chris had asked me to paint the backdrop for this one. I jumped at the chance
THE BOYS OF POINTE DU HOC 2014
My good friend Jake Schroeder hired me to paint a mural at Denver's PAL (Police Activities League) Headquarters. He wanted an image that would both go well with a climbing wall that he planned to have installed, and an image that would capture the epic events of D-Day which was inspired by his trips to Normandy last year. Having yet another opportunity to work with youth from a nearby community made this mural even more meaningful and rewarding for me.
CITY BEAT 2015
Mahalo to Helen Patterson and Nancy Brady for giving me this opportunity to honor Jack Kerouac and Neal Cassady with a mural of their own on Colfax Ave in The Mile High City. “Life must be rich and full of loving--it's no good otherwise, no good at all, for anyone.” ― Jack Kerouac Selected Letters, 1940-1956
